Baking after Christmas who would have thought!

What does one do when one is bored to tears! Bake!!! I didn't bake at all this Christmas, I really missed it. I had 2 lonely apples begging to be made into something, I don't have any sweets here, so I made a homemade Apple pie! Sure is good, sorry you missed it!
Pie! yumo!

My niece's cat, Sadie trying to sleep. Silly cat opens drawers and climbs in and sleeps. Last Christmas we went to the animal shelter and got her.

Dedication to my Dad at Christmas time!

I'm going to dedicate this post to my wonderful Dad! He has been gone since 1995. He really got into Christmas. He was like a big kid. He would open his presents and them sit them aside, we would all be wondering what he got that he didn't show us. He really made the most at Christmas for us kids. I think it's because he had it so hard when he was growing up and he didn't want his kids to be with out. What else can I say he was a wonderful man! I miss him everyday! His favorite Christmas song was Silent Night. And one of his favorite singers was Johnny Cash. As you can hear I did add that song to my playlist. It's for you Dad, I hope your looking down on us!
To all of you out there in blog land, I don't know any of you but I'm blessed that you visit my blog.
Merry Christmas!!!!!!Many blessings to you all!!!

This is mom and dad long ago. Not sure what year this was, but they sure did take a great photo together, except for the tree lite blurr.

Isn't this a great Christmas decorating item. It's a little large for my small tree, I just put it here until I figure out what to do with it. I think maybe next year I'll put it on a wreath.

I needed a give for a dear friend, so I decided to make not only a jewelry pouch, but also a tea and sugar packet holder and a purse size tissue holder. I thought the matching set was a great idea. She really loved it!

This is going to be a really quick post. I didn't sell very many of my jewelry pouches, actually only 3. So I'm blessed and Thankful for that. I think it was just too late to be selling anything crafty. Hope everyone has a great Monday.

Jewelry pouch bags, they make great gifts!!!

Howdy! I hope everyone is doing great. I've been busy as a one armed man in a fighting match! I had my part time work (Soma intimates) Christmas party on Sunday. So not having a full time job, I had to think of something to do with out spending much money. We could only spend $10. Well that was easy. so I went to TJ Maxx, got a really cute jewelry dish, ($3.99) So then I had a plan to make a jewelry pouch. I found the pattern online. so I made one. When Kellye opened up her gift from me, everyone really liked what I had made. Then they insisted that I make more of them so Diane could sell them at her jewelry shows. She said make some by Wednesday of this week and I'll see if I can sell some for you. So between working part time ( more hours because our stock person is gone) and trying to find a full time job, then having to make some of these bags. Well I did it! They turned out great. I took them to Diane today for her jewelry party tonight. Guess I'll find out how I did on Thursday.

All my jewelry pouch's. I was only able to make 9 of them. It was alot of work, but I did it. Whoo Hoo!!!

My Santa with his sleigh of toys. Painted by me. Another treasured thing. The class I took way back when was taught by Jackie Spell. She's a wonderful decorative artist and teacher.

My little tree. I've had this tree for years. Thought I would put it up again this year to save money. (instead of going and buying a real tree). After I look at this picture, it seems as though there is alot of ornaments on it, but there really isn't. One of my treasured Christmas thing is the elves climbing up the ladder. (see them at the bottom right) Sorry the picture isn't really good. Most things are hand crafted. Some painted by me.

Just wanted to post about my Pasta Fagioli soup I made last Friday. While I was trying to post the recipe I used, we had a power outage. So here is the recipe.
I received my package from my swap partner for the cookie cutter swap. I will be posting about it.

Pasta Fagioli
2 stalks of celery chopped
1 onion chopped
3 cloves of garlic minced
2 teaspoons dried parsley
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
salt to taste
(I also added fresh ground black pepper)
1- 14.5 oz can chicken broth
2 medium tomatoes peeled and chopped
(I used 1 can of tomatoes)
1 8 oz can tomato sauce
1/2 cup uncooked spinach pasta
(I used Whacky Mac veggie shaped pasta)
1 15 oz can cannellini beans with liquid
I added cut up chicked breast to mine.
I wanted some meat in my soup.
In large pan over medium heat cook celery, onion,
garlic, parsley, Italian seasoning, Red pepper & salt
until onion is translucent, I then add,my cut up chicken
I put in my garlic at the last so that it wouldn't
get too brown. Stir in chicken broth, tomatoes,
tomato sauceand simmer low for 15 to 20 minutes.
Add pasta and cook 1o minutes.
( I cooked my pasta seperate then added in)
Add undrained beans and mix well.
Heat through, serve warm.
Sprinkle with Parmeasan cheese.
I served mine with toasted french bread and a salad
with Tuscan Italian dressing.
It was really good!

I joined the Cookie cutter swap that Sue had going on at Country Pleasures. I got my package off, so it should be arriving to it's destination soon.

May the God of hope fill you with all the joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13

Hello and Happy Friday! It's been another rough week, but I'm not letting the devil win.
I was blessed this week by being able to take a "free" pillow class at It's a Stitch. What a fabulous class it was. The teacher is a quilter, teacher, and Bernina rep. The ladies where so nice, and they gave us the pillow form as a gift. I really love the Bernina 830 I used, what a great machine. Actually the machine did all the work.
Hope you all have a terrific weekend!

From my Portals of Prayer book:
You hurled me into the deep, into the very heart of the seas, and the currents swirled about me: all Your waves and breakers swept over me. Jonah 2:3

Thank you, Father, for using our trials to refine us until we shine with the glory of your Son. Amen!

This is a little project that I'm working on. I've had this square for quite some time, I don't ever remember where I got it from, but I know that it is old, I thinks some of the material that was used is feed sacks. I'm hand quilting it and I will probably make a pillow out of it. I've had a request to do a giveaway, so I am thinking of doing one, I'm just not sure what it will be. So stay tuned.

Morning Prayer Walk

Good morning, I thought I would share this new thing I've started. I have never been one to be good with putting words together, making them flow and sound beautiful just has never been good for me to be able to convey. Yesterday as I walked to the pond, I decided that on Tuesday morning instead of reading my morning prayer before I turn on the computer, that I would take my Portal of Prayer book and take a walk to our Pond. Thats where I'm going to say my morning prayer and spend time with God. It's beautiful there and a great place to meditate on Gods word. Who knows maybe it will help me think of what I'm going to do in my next job, or just help me get through the day.

Dear Jesus, Thank you that no matter what the day brings, we have the comfort of Your tender love, forgiving grace, and comforting fellowship. Keep us strong in this knowledge and faith. Amen.

November already! Mini Wall quilt/hot pad

Can't believe it's November already! Well I finished this little project I started a few weeks ago. It's one of the kits I purchased at the Houston Quilt show. This is my first mini wall quilt or hot pad. I found it to be really easy to do. I was scared of doing the binding but found an online tutorial that really explained how to do the binding. So I will be on to bigger quilted projects. I'm thinking I want to make a table runner. Possibly for Christmas. Guess I better get started. Any one wanting to give me some ideas on a Christmas table runner, please leave me a comment, I would love to hear from you.

Quilt show Goodies! Here is what I found at the Houston quilt show last Saturday. 2 mini quilt, or hot pad kits, Towel stitchery (Crabapple hill), Lg bow tucks bag pattern, Table runner with stitchery pattern, Halloween material, Red material for Red work project, Buttons, and Cotton Batting. I really had a great time with Mom and my Sister. So much material, patterns, notions and what ever else a sewing/quilting person would need, you could find at the quilt show.

More Goodies! Found some more of the little tex Stitchery patterns. Hopefully someday I can make a quit out of these.

This is one of the little kits I found. It can be either a mini wall quilt or a hot pad. Right now I'm trying to figure out how I want my squares to lay out. If any of you have any ideas, I'm open to suggestions.

Good morning! I haven't had much time to blog lately, I've started my part time job at Soma Intimates. It has been quite a challenge. Something totally different for me. Not sure where this will lead, but I'm greateful for the opportunity. It's raining cats and dogs here this morning, guess the cool front is moving through, course it's not going to be that cool. I'll take what ever we get. I have been trying to decide on how I want to finish that little stitchery project I posted a few post ago. I also am working on posting some of my pictures of the things I've painted, ( very proud of them by the way). Also can't wait for the International Quilt show. I will be going with my fabulous Mom and terrific sister! Lots of patterns, lots of quilts, lots of material and so on. Till next time, have a blessed Friday! :)

Just wanted to say "THANKS" to all my vistors. I was so excited to learn that I had a visitor from Australia! How cool is that. I haven't had much time to blog lately, I started a part time job so I've been really busy with that. I stopped today after work at a little craft show at a church. Lots of really good crafts. I talked to a lady that I have purchased my crosses from, she's so friendly and actually remembered me. I don't think of myself as a memorable person. I feel as though I have a hard time connecting with people. We are gettting rain here today, so it could be one of those good craft days. I still need to put out some more fall decorations. Maybe on my next day off. Have a terrific weekend!

The sweetest gift and Round Top/Warrenton Treasures!

My sweet sister gifted me with this fabulous blue jean purse. She has been making them and selling them for a while now. She really does a terrific job. The little pockets could hold a cell phone, or what ever else for storage. The inside is lined. The next photo is the back. Just simply marvelous! Let me know if anyone out there wants one!

Here is the back of this blue jean purse. Isn't it just the cutest thing!

Forgot to mention this last week. I've started making yo yo's to fill this glass jar. I have alot more to make, to fill this jar.
Here are my treasures from my trip to Round Top/Warrenton on Saturday. I had such a wonderful time with my wonderful sister and mom and my brothers mother in law. I didn't even spent alot of money which was great! I purchased a vintage apron, table runner, swan gourd, antique textile spools, and a chicken feeder, which I will use for a bird feeder. The textile spools I'm going to put my ribbon on for storage. I think they will look great on a shelf.
